Wind farms spoil the countryside
- Says who? Really that’s each person’s opinion. Many actually see wind turbines as a positive sign we’re trying to fight global warming.
- Government surveys regularly show 80% of people support wind farms, and less than 10% are against.
- Wind farms can’t be build on Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) or other protected areas. This includes national parks such as the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Trossachs National Park.
- Many environmental organisations have to be consulted before a wind farm can be built. These include RSPB and Natural Heritage.
